This year (2010-2011) the Curry School will continue to reconceptualize the Education Library. Keeping in step with new modes of access will create opportunities for thinking about contemporary teaching and learning.
The Curry Library Innovations Commons [CLIC] will continue to exist, in part, in a digital collaborative space. It will also exist as a physical space for collaborative knowledge production, both to serve the needs of current education students and to model parallel spaces in schools. This site was established to allow the Curry School and University community to collaborate in creating shared learning opportunities and experiences.
This effort is supported by the CLIC graduate coordinator, the University of Virginia Library, the Curry Educational Technology Office, and partners in Information Technology and Communications (ITC), SHANTI, the Teaching Resource Center, and the School of Engineering. It is the focus of a graduate seminar in Instructional Technology as well as a topic in other courses.
An informal weekly CLIC discussion, Tea and Technology, held on Thursdays at noon, is offered to provide demonstrations of innovative practice and support discussions around this theme. In addition, Curry School faculty members, staff, and students can apply for CLIC Innovation seed grants in support of this effort.
The Curry School will apply the knowledge and understanding gained throughout this year (2010-2011) towards continuing efforts to redesign the facility throughout this year and in the following year (2011-2012).
